Registration of Iranian plant functional traits database in TRY plant trait world database
The Iranian plant traits database was registered in the TRY database.

The database, which is the first database of functional traits of plants in the country. About ۴۰۰ plant species data on leaf traits and plant structure recorded with the participation of Dr. Mehdi Abedi academic of range management department (faculty of natural resources and marine sciences) and Khadijeh Bahleke (Ph. D student).
Available information can be used by researchers in the country and region in functional ecology research. These data were collected through student participation in several collaborative research projects with French and Spanish researchers from some mountain grassland habitats, steppe rangelands, northeastern Iran's salinas, gypsum and marine habitats and has been analyzed at TMU Functional Ecology Lab. This database (which is also being completed) is published in the journal Global Change Biology with an impact factor of ۸.۸۸.
Global Change Biology is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal covering research on the interface between biological systems and all aspects of environmental change that affect a substantial part of the globe including climate change, global warming, land use change, invasive species, urbanization, wildfire, and greenhouse gases. The editor-in-chief is Stephen P. Long, environmental plant physiologist, Fellow of the Royal Society and member of the National Academy of Sciences (University of Illinois and Lancaster University).
The TRY plant database is highlighted as the most comprehensive archive of global plant data, with open access to the public (Fraser ۲۰۱۹ Global Change Biology). Plant traits are a key to understanding and predicting the adaptation of ecosystems in the face of biodiversity loss and global change. To improve the empirical data basis for such projections, in ۲۰۰۷ the TRY project was initiated. TRY is a network of vegetation scientists headed by DIVERSITAS, IGBP, the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, and an international Steering Committee.
