Researchers have studied the properties of an intelligent wearable blanket to monitor patients in order to design and build intelligent systems to monitor patients in real time and control their conditions.
The researchers concluded that the proposed system should integrate all vital signs needed to control individuals and provide interpreted data for the treatment group present at the ambulance. In such a system, the individual « s medical, diagnostic and monitoring information is stored in the physician» s assist system and enables the ambulance physician to make an early diagnosis.
« The wearable smart blanket system must have certain functional features such as monitoring vital signs, being able to interact with the environment, instantaneous processing of critical signals in case of exceeding critical thresholds, and being able to store all vital individual signals» said Dr. Ali Asghar Safai, a faculty member at the Medical Informatics department.
It should also have important non-functional features such as easy installation and operation, interoperability, fault tolerance, low power consumption, accuracy of mark registration, and data evaluation and analysis.
Safai and his colleagues have published their findings in the journal “ Health Informatics and Biomedicine” .
