TMU Safety Council s performance on laboratory Waste Management
According to Iran's Waste Management law, special or hazardous waste are all waste that need special care due to at least one of their hazardous properties such as toxicity, pathogenicity, explosiveness or flammability, corrosion and reactivity. Therefore, those medical waste, as well as some of the normal, industrial and agricultural wastes that require special management, are considered as special or hazardous wastes.
So far, issues such as identifying and evaluating the types of laboratory waste and following up on the issue of waste management by competent organizations have been addressed by the Safety Council.
Development of laboratory Waste Management methods, ?training to get acquainted with different types of laboratory waste and how to manage them in HSE workshops for new students, evaluation of the monthly average waste produced by colleges, the standard label for installation on chemical collection gallons based on waste management procedures are some of the actions were taken in line with the decisions of the TMU Safety Council.
