At the 13th Nanotechnology Festival, TMU came in third in the country's top research institutes. Dr. Ali Morsali, the Basic Sciences faculty professor of TMU, ranked fourth in the top researchers section. Dr. Morsali earned this title by working in the field of "Synthesis of Porous Organic Metal Frames".

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with Iran's Urmia Lake Restoration Program (ULRP) held an expert roundtable to discuss the results of major studies and identify potential interventions as part of the ongoing project "Integrated Programme for Sustainable Water Resources Management in the Urmia Lake Basin."
